While the product is top quality I think it is pretty crumby for the seller to almost double their prices practically overnight. For 2 dollars less I can buy the same product from the local hardware store, as a longtime customer of smallparts (tons of orders with them) I am Very Disappointed.

My Grandson broke the window in our back door by pounding on the glass too hard. He also broke the window in our side door by accident by knocking something into it.
So I decided to try something stronger than glass for exterior doors that have windows in them. So as an experiment, I tried using Polycarbonate instead of glass.
So far I have only replaced one pane in the back door to see how it would work. I have waited until after winter to write about the results because I wanted to see how the thermal characteristics were as well as clarity and strength.
I am happy to say that it was a complete success. The pane I replaced is clearer than the glass pane above it. It insulates better, keeping out cold in winter and heat in summer. No scratching. It is much stronger than the glass pane.
Now I plan to replace all exterior door windows with Polycarbonate sheets this spring. No need to worry about break ins by shattering the glass. Currently all exterior doors have deadlocks mounted at the bottom of the door so that if the window is shattered, a thief still can't reach to unlock the door, they can only break out all window panes and crawl in through the opening.
With Polycarbonate windows, they won't be able to do this unless they have a sledge hammer since Polycarbonate is anywhere from 10 to 20 times stronger than glass. It is bulletproof if tick enough. I am not concerned with that since I live in a quiet neighborhood and any gunfire would bring the police in minutes.
The cost is relatively low unless you are replacing full sized windows instead of panes.
Sizing is easy since cutting Polycarbonate is not as hard as cutting glass and not fragile so no fear of accidentally shattering it while cutting and trimming.
The only negative I have found is that there are not enough varieties of sizes available that match up with standard window sizes so there is more cutting and trimming than there should be. If more people decide to go with Polycarbonate windows instead of plate glass, perhaps the industry will make more window sized pieces available for sale.

These days it's very hard to find a plastics store and if you find one you either have to buy a whole sheet or pay out of the nose for a cut piece. Home Depot and the other big chain only sell the thin window polycarbonate and it shatters like plexiglass which is not suppose to happen. The size is perfect for my needs and the price is great.

Arrived in perfect condition. Surfaces are protected. Accurate sizing.

I ordered three of these 12" x 24" polycarbonate sheets, specified to be .062" thick (about 1/16" = 0.0625"). They arrived in perfect condition packed in a large box. The thin sheets of plastic stuck on each surface to protect against scratches are easily removed. The edges are not particularly sharp when touched with fingers.
My thickness measurements with a dial caliper averaged about 0.064" -- certainly close enough to to 0.062" to call it accurately sized! To give you an idea of a sheet's stiffness: supported horizontally very close to the ends, this two-foot long sheet sags about 1 1/4" in the middle. Note that this product is polycarbonate, NOT Plexiglas or Lucite, which are acrylic. (See the Wikipedia entries for polycarbonate and acrylic glass.) Acrylic usually costs less, but I saw somewhere that it may not work as well for my intended use.
I used one sheet as a transparent "white board" with dry-erase markers*, which works well. We lay this sheet on top of printed-out dot-to-dot and maze activities for my preschooler. Then he can draw, wipe clean, and re-do any of the sheets by himself. No more printing out more copies!
(*It appears that dry erase markers are not all the same--a new Lakeshore® Dry-Erase marker erased easily and completely, while an older Expo® Bold Color Dry Erase would not erase completely. It could be the Expo was older, or perhaps there is some other difference.)

Having decided that acrylic fingernails are too toxic to use anymore (the solvent goes right through your skin) I was pleased to find this material. You have to bend it to shape with needlenose pliers and apply with cyanoacrylate. The sanding / filing dust is still toxic in the long term, I believe (polycarbonate is a xeno-estrogen) but way less than acrylic IMHO because no volatile solvents are used except for the relatively benign cyanoacrylate. The material wears well and is easier to shape than acrylic, no complaints.
