I should have bought up. This works but needs to sit level to measure which is not always an option.

We use the gauge for determining paper thickness used in the early manufacture of postage & revenue stamps - the thickness can mean the value difference from a few dollars to $1000's. The product is robust & appears to accurately measure paper thickness - it is too early to give a resounding opinion but all indications are that the product will provide years of good accurate service.

This item is well worth the price. The casing is not as heavy as my previous micrometer but that does not effect the accuracy or usage of this item. I would highly recommend this mic.
