Product Description
The Wixey dual display digital caliper is the only fractional caliper available that displays both the fraction and the decimal equivalent at the same time. With these calipers you can ensure accuracy by reading the fraction and the decimal equivalent at the same time so you know that 1/2" is exactly .5", not .51" or .49". This may not seem like much until you look at the gap around the edge banding you just inlaid into a one-of-a-kind table! Constructed of high-quality hardened and ground stainless steel components featuring a large easy-to-read display that reads in inches with fractions or millimeters. The fractions are displayed using precise fraction technology which gives extremely accurate fraction readouts. The decimal inches are displayed in .001" increments and the millimeters in .01mm increments. These calipers incorporate precision measuring features found in top-of-the-line measuring tools used in metal working. The precision ground measuring faces allow for outside, inside, depth and step measurements.

4 out of 5 stars Measures Up   May 23, 2010

I got the Wixey WR100 6-Inch Digital Calipers with Fractions a few days ago and now all my loose unknown sized drills (a cigar box full) that go back to the 1920's from my Grandfather are now all sized and identified for future use.

The fractions function is just great because if I had to just mic up the decimal size (could have done that with my old manual micrometer) and had to convert to fractions it would (and never did get done). Those fractions drove me nuts in school when I was a kid and now Wixey is my secret weapon, this caliper is doing the math for me.

Bottom line: A well made tool for the price. It works and is accurate. If you have things to measure you can't go wrong with this nice addition to the tool chest.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for the Price!   March 20, 2010

They claim to be accurate to 0.002" in the certs that accompany them, but they are only accurate to 0.003" using certified gage blocks (at least the pair that I received), being performed by gage technicians at work. For what I'm using them for, this accurate enough and they are repeatable which is more important to me. For the price you can't beat them, and I would buy another pair. If you require more accuracy, then these may not be for you; for more precision, I'd recommend the Mitutoyo 500-196-20; unfortunately they are both made in China.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good, With One Issue   January 3, 2010

These calipers is solidly constructed. The numbers are large and easy to read. I have checked it against some gauge blocks at work and it appears to be within the accuracy specification. I would have given them a 5-star rating if they did millimeter measurements properly. They only allow 2 decimal places in millimeters, and the lowest resolution is 0.05 mm. The problem is, in inches the lowest resolution is 0.001"(0.0254 mm). So if you use the calipers in inch mode you get 0.001" resolution, in mm mode you get 0.002" resolution.

The fraction readout is really nice. It rounds to the closest fraction when you are on the hairy edge. I find it handy at work for identifying nuts and bolts I have laying around, especially when trying to guess what size crescent wrench to use (I work with mixed metric/english equipment)

Otherwise it's a solid tool and I recommend it, especially if your main mode is inches.

5 out of 5 stars very nice product   November 12, 2009

I'm really pleased with this caliper. It seems to be very accurate and the numbers are relatively large and easy to read. I would have preferred a backlighted option for the display, but this one is much better to read than my old dial caliper, which went into the trash after using the Wixey a few times. It's really nice that it displays the fractions when they're encountered too. The caliper is nicely designed and machined, very easy to use and zero, with all of the functions that you'd expect on a regular dial caliper.

It comes in a nice protective case and with a battery that you install. Battery installation is pretty easy and straight forward, using a little tray for the flat battery. The only issue that I encountered is that the instruction page calls for a different battery number than the one that is included with the caliper.

I liked the caliper so much that I ordered the Wixey WR200 Digital Height Gauge with Fractions The height gauge uses the same basic display unit and battery as the caliper, but doesn't come with a protective case. The height gauge is well designed and machined like the caliper. They are a nice pair of tools to have.

The caliper is easy to use and works great. Accurate and repeatable readings. I like the decimal and fraction readings on the display. I would buy again.
